You gotta admire the ethics and morals these two dudes stand by. I did some workshops in St Kilda a couple of years ago organised by the Sri Chinmoy Organisation: http://www.srichinmoy.org/
They were free meditation classes held by practising members of the org. It was really wonderful and I recommend to everybody out there to give yourself a chance to experience who you truly are through practices such as meditation.

Black Linings - Drew Funk... This Thursday opening at No Vacancy QV is Drew Funks - Black Linings, this is a not to be missed show, trust me when I say this as I have seen the whole thing come together in the studio. Drew and I went and got this piece from a collector yesterday as it was the first of the series but was sold quite some time ago, the collector was kind enough to loan it for the show as it marks the transition of Drews work. These larger pieces are really quite something to view as they are large, detailed and complex. The piece pictured here is a fish made up of little dragon fish, crazy shit!

Knowing in death all is well.

Another realisation has come to me upon working on the initial study for this piece regarding the universe, these matters are always difficult to convey with words but I will try.

I envisioned death in absolute clarity, through this is a path of true beauty and light is attained, for our longing of love and loss is the deep emotion we possess that connects us with spirit which is god. Without this hurt we are non existent as a soul. This is the connection we have from before the fall, with purity. From this can be deciphered another language, that of the soul, for we talk in words that can never express our truth and holiness yet the feeling a glance from an individual we do not know can portray and connect like no words can, whether good or bad. These feelings take hold in a deeper, different place. I think this may be the sacred vibration. This being the case we are constantly in touch with this language yet we do not acknowledge it enough. These moments seem to only be grasped when we least expect it, kind of a self meditative state we naturally fall into, whether knowingly or unknowingly. This I foresee is the language of the new age, the age of aquarius.

Scorpio with the sting, these were part of a series of 12 paintings of the Zodiac for the Intergalactic Alchemy exhibition. They turned out real nice with a real alien feel to them. All done with spray enamel as a base touched up with acrylic fluorescents by brush full of energy and vitality just like the universe that created them.

Here is a ripper from the past, circa 85 or 86, panels by Key, Dime & Anton (in order from left to right), done early morning Mothers Day by some of the old Elwood crew. Sandy was the yard and they only ran once to the buffing yards. This was the norm back in the good old days and many a fine panel was never seen. I will endeavor to add a few old school pieces that will bring back fond memories for the real old school dudes getting around back in the day when you could spend all night in a yard.

Today I picked up ANGEL from the framers and it looks terrific. Had a huge amount of difficulty trying to pick something for this as the painting is so intense that a plain frame was too simple and elegant frames were competing with the artwork however I used an inner gold frame to give the elegant frame a boundary which has worked really well.

The drive home was tragic, to the movies I was supposed to journey with my angel, Italian Film Festival was the call but alas the traffic was impenetrable, me in my funky blue station wagon that was once Master Rons was not to travel to the extravaganza on this fine warm evening, sadness ensued and beers were stopped for at the local drive through. However unexpected excitement awaited me. The arrival of two of Leslie Dittos paintings brought much joy and a very pleasant surprise. Yuki the kind little furry beast was happy with his very big bowl of food and cool water that I presented to his majesty, and the wind, how warm and pleasant continuing on well into the evening allowing me a large air vent that could be opened without icicles on the nose ridding myself of the smoke haze that seems to envelope my every move! Several beers later and much tobacco and Thoth begins to emerge from the darkness much like his arrival many thousands of years previous. I hit a nasty little snag a few days ago with this painting, failure seemed inevitable and it was put on the back blocks only to be followed with more failure. ADi being one who seems to fear torment persisted, a glaze here and a glaze there, remove the clouds in the background and that silly 12 apostle landscape, I have not even been there, more fire and brimstone I chanted, more magick with a 'K', the background was complete (sort off anyways). Silence was all around and that sweet loss of surroundings took control, I fell yet again and the tentacles of time started to untangle, the suckers let go. Thoth is emerging, at an ever so slow pace but no one in their right mind would rush such a being of light. The thrice great cannot be captured with my simple little hair sticks and colour but goodness - I will try.

This was one of two panels that I collaborated on with Chor Boogie from San Francisco in the States, he was out as a featured artist for 2008's Melbourne Stencil Festival. I did the backgrounds and detail and he painted his famous boogie bird into the scene. He kept one and I kept one for my private collection. Pretty cool!

Duality - In essence this piece demonstrates the love between the sun (masculine) and the moon (feminine), forever gliding gracefully about each others bodies, touching only with their light. Taunting each other like two lovers that never tire.
With this piece I wanted to capture the opposites in our solar system that relate so heavily to our souls. I used very defining colours to represent each and adapted a tube so each life force could connect visually.
